As the minister of local government and provincial council I am glad and feel proud that a website is being created for the Municipal Council Batticaloa. We are in the 21st century and this is the era for Information and Communication Technology. Whole world became united with the IT revolution. Most of the governments in the world using IT as an important component to provide people centric services.

I am glad and feel proud that a website is being created for the Municipal Council Batticaloa at least now as hosting of a website was a long felt need without which it will lag behind other institutions in the fast expanding electronic Information Technology world. Political and social situation, prevailed in the nearest past few decades, has prevented us from hosting a website or at least publishing a bulletin for the Council.
